Changsha Day #5

Friday was our last day in Changsha. It's currently Saturday night, and we're in Guangzhou- I'm a little behind in blogging. The pictures are a little out of order for Friday, but you'll get the idea. First we went to Yuelie Academy, which is over 1000 years old. (The site is, the building was redone in 1938 after a fire.) Anyways, the sun was finally out, so we were thrilled! It was still cold, but better than rain. Tessa had a great time. And I loved finally having a little natural light to take photos. On the way back to the hotel, they took us back by the orphanage to take a few more pics and some video. We'd forgotten video the first day, and I really want to have it for her. We went back to the hotel for nap and packing up, and left at 3:30pm. We stopped for her passport and official adoption certificate on the way to the airport, and then our flight was delayed 45 minutes.

It was 11pm before we got to the hotel room last night, and we were TIRED. Tessa threw a major fit in the van b/c she was tired, and our guide said "She's got a little temper doesn't she?". When we told her that Tessa's paperwork described her as extroverted and hot tempered, she chuckled. In any case, the flight was fine and Tessa did great. She doesn't have any concept what an airplane is, or that she was on one. We had the medical appointment this morning, and then after another lunch meltdown- she slept 3.5 hours!!! Needless to say, her mood is much improved this afternoon. We are at the Holiday Inn Shifu, and like I said- our room is a palace! I'll get to GZ pics later this evening!

Enjoy the pics!

Tessa and Daddy at her finding spot.
Family shot!
This is the building the SWI is in.
Minor tantrum b/c Daddy wouldn't let her run around the van while moving. They don't use carseats here in China. She's gonna be in for a rude awakening when we get home:-)

Big river in Changsha. We had to cross it to ge to the other side where the Academy was. More peaceful over there!

At the Academy. It's just a tourist attraction, nothing is actually taught there now.

She was so happy to run around.

If taking off her hat, and ripping out her bow were an olympic sport, she'd be a gold medalist. She is an expert, even with mittens on.

Snuggled up!
Loves to run!
Pick me up Daddy!
