GZ Day 1

Saturday was our first day in GZ. We met our guide and driver at 9:30, and they already had the other family from our agency. They are staying at another hotel, but we do all the adoption stuff together. And some of the touring. They've adopted a sweet little boy who just turned two, and is deaf. His Mom is a speech language pathologist, and he's getting cochlear implants when he gets home! We headed to Shamian Island for the medical exam, and Tessa did great. She didn't even cry when they gave her the TB test, which is like a small shot. She was more ticked that we took her cheerio container, than she was about the TB test. Figures! We then had lunch, we consisted of a little eating, and a lot of melting down. The girl can throw a fit!!! She then took a 3.5 hour nap, which solved the little issue of the meltdowns. She was so tired from getting in late Friday night! We took two walks yesterday around our hotel, and the pics are from the first one. The place looks like Times Square/Vegas at night! I'll get some photos of that tonight.

The clinic is authorized by the US government to do the exam. Everything on this end of the trip is for the US, we are finished with everything from the China side. Next month the clinic is moving off the island, so there won't be anything left there for adoptive families. Poo!

Say "Ahhhhh".
Height, weight, and temperature. 30 inches tall and 22 pounds!
You can see how scared she was. (Read that with sarcasm.) I mean, seriously? She was kicked back with her feet thrown up on the desk! Made us laugh!
Note the ever present bowl of Cheerios!!!!!
This is where everyone goes for visa photos!
Many US adoptive families waiting. You should have seen the madhouse the clinic was!!!!!
Near our hotel

GZ day 2 was the safari, and that was a blast! Pics and post from that coming later!
